Well my dad and I have been trotlinin ever since I was like 10 years old.Its all my ol' man can think about now in his retirement! He is a retired machinist so every trotline and limbline is unique and heavy duty and has to be perfect. We live in Topeka, Kansas and fish Clinton lake religously. We use to fish Perry Lake a lot but our old spot has filled in over the years. We think Clinton is one of the cleanist lakes to fish around here.We caught the 80 pound flathead on the upper left in 5 feet of water on the 3rd hook on a 10 hook trotline using a 9/0 stainless steel hook.We have been using green perch for bait. My five children are our bait catchin team!hehehe. When we brought the fish home and put it in the horse tank it coughed up 3 hand size crappie! It must of been feeding on crappie up close to the bank when we caught it. It took our little 14ft. v-bottom for a side to side ride! It was fun! Last year my dad pulled in a 76 pounder and the year before that we had a pair 70 and 74 pounder.Clinton lake outside of Lawrence, Kansas is over looked for flatheads. We always catch more flatheads than channel there, but thats what we are targeting too. Hope this helps and we love your site, we just got online 4 months ago, gee, we been missin a lot of good stuff and pictures! SEE YA The Moores! Pic on the upper right is of the 70 and 74 pounder too.
These two fellow BOC "catfish1.com" members proudly display their
catches! The big Bluecat on the left was taken by Steve Adams
(coach) The fish bottomed out Steve's 55 pound scales so the actual
weight is a mistery.....Steve caught this brute on cut Skipjack on
the Mississippi River! The big Bluecat on the right was taken by
Jackie Kennedy (Joatflash) The fish weighed in at 32.5 pounds and
was taken on a 4 inch perch, photographed and released at Cedar
Creek Texas! These two BOC members can be proud of these
catches!!!! Drop by

How much do you
think it weighed? I did manage to weigh it on my Uncles bathroom
scales two hours after I caught it. His scales showed 60 pounds but
he didn't think they were very accurate. I think it was closer to
75 pounds when first caught. It was caught last year by myself and
my son in law on a trot line in the Marais des Cygnes river in
Bates county, Missouri. We used 200 pound test and number eight
hooks. The crazy thing about the whole deal is that we caught it at
noon. I rarely catch cats during the day. It was caught on a two
inch long crawdad in water about twenty feet deep right next to the
bank. I also have a photo of a 35 pound Bluecat that we caught a
few weeks. My name is Dale Castle and my son in law is Freddie
Clopton.
